Artist Statement:

I am the multimedia artist that I am by the grace of God giving me cartoons. — All art tells a story. Stories are lessons. And lessons should be built on the truth. The truth is best told through a sense of wonder and awe, which is why cartoons had such a profound impact on me as a child. But the foundation of truth I was looking for in so many cartoons was always lacking. I imagined more. So since I was seven years old I have been determined to make the stories I wanted to see back then. And I’ve explored this through every medium I can: pencil, ink, digital illustration, painting, sculpture, papercraft, printmaking, writing, songwriting, or my favorite, animation, which combines all of these things.

I want to make art that brings people together, like the many mediums used to create my art. I want to make stories that friends and families can see themselves in and know each other more than they did before. I want the simplicity of my animations to inspire kids to make their own. I want the dense detail in my illustrations to push them to grow. I want the deep colors and variety of textures to reflect the complexity of the emotions portrayed but conveyed in a way anyone can understand. And to accomplish this, I make art that feeds from the childlike wonder that continues to fill my heart.
